17th Annual Art For Life Fine Art Auction

The 17th Annual Art For Life Fine Art Auction, presented by Murrick and Somerset Insurance Services, will showcase a collection of 90 artworks valued at close to $200,000. Donated from some of Vancouver’s top artists, 100% of art sales will benefit Friends For Life.
This year’s event includes a VIP reception with the live auction artists. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine from sponsor Sumac Ridge Estate Winery and canapés prepared by Vancouver’s famous chef Louis Gervais (former executive chef of the Sutton Place Hotel) while toasting the 2010 Friend In Deed Award winner.
Following the VIP reception will be the Live Art Auction, featuring some 39 works of art by Vancouver’s top artists. The estimated value of the live auction items ranges from $2,500 - $15,000 (with only one painting posting a reserve).
In addition to the Live Art Auction, this season’s hottest party will play backdrop to a Silent Art Auction featuring emerging local artists, live music, performance art, and a dessert gala. After 10 pm, guests are invited to dance and enjoy the rest of the evening from Five Sixty’s exclusive Art For Life VIP Lounge. Guests also have a chance to win one of four raffle prizes that include some luxurious travel and spa packages, valued at over $15,000.

Wellness Philosophy
The Vancouver Friends For Life Society, by inviting members to participate in complementary and alternative health programs and services, assists members in assuming responsibility for their own health and well-being. Wellness is more than the absence of illness. Wellness is a physical, mental, social and spiritual state whereby people feel more personal control over their health. People living with life threatening illness do better physically and psychologically when they gain the tools and resources to make their own best health decisions.
For some people, living with a life-threatening illness can lead to anxiety, fear, depression, and/or social isolation. Friends For Life believes it is of the utmost importance that people learn to take an active role in their wellness journey. At Friends For Life, we recognize that with compassion, support and knowledge, the experience of illness can be a catalyst for positive personal transformation.
